International School of Berne Foundation - History

The International School of Berne Foundation (ISBerne Foundation) was created in 2011 subsequent to the purchase of the International School of Berne, from the ISBerne Parent Teacher Association, by K12 a USA based online education company with an office in Thun, Switzerland.

The aim of the ISBerne Foundation is the promotion of the musical, academic and scientific development of children, adolescents and young adults whose families are not in a position to finance initial education at a school in the Mittelland Region or at an institute of higher education in Switzerland or outside of Switzerland.

The Foundation is funded through the ownership of the land along Mattenstrasse, in Gümligen; the previous campus location of ISBerne.

The International School of Berne was established in 1961 to provide international education, in English, to families of employees of international companies and diplomatic offices living in the Berne region.
